FAA Level 3 First Aid at Work (QCF) – Requalification – with Equestrian-Specific Supplement

This comprehensive 2-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

In addition to this, should there have been any change to protocols during their initial qualification, then this will be updated.

All successful students will be issued with a new First Aid at Work Certificate, lasting for a period of 3 years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualification.

This course will give participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Control of bleeding
  • Poisoning
  • Burns
  • Epilepsy
  • Resuscitation
  • Bandaging
  • Heart attacks
  • Head injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Asthma
  • Stroke
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Shock (includingAnaphylaxis)
  • Choking
  • Eye injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Diabetes

Certification

Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day,along with a question paper on Day 1 and two question papers on Day 2.

A three year Level 3 Award in FirstAid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner,subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.

Two certificates will be issued. One for the FAW and one for the Equine element. This course is accepted by the BHS for their register of instructors.
